Located in the picturesque Mount Richon in the Perth Hills, this pool was designed and constructed by Oasis Pools to complement the stunning three-storey residence. Gary Green from Custom Built Homes was building the house next door and recommended Oasis Pools for the job.
The homeowners enjoy magnificent 180-degree views of the west coast, as well as the Perth skyline, which is 40 kilometres north of the property. To make the most of the sweeping views, the pool had to be built on a steep, clay site at the front of the house. Gil Howard tackled this project head-on and designed a self-supporting concrete pool that is nestled between the home’s driveway and structural foundations.
To ensure the pool was structurally sound, Scott and Associated Engineers assisted with the design of the pool’s structure, which has 200mm thick concrete walls, steel reinforcements and a concrete keel to ensure the pool doesn’t slip down the steep hill.
Measuring 8.4m x 4m, with a depth of 1.2m–1.9m, more than half of the pool is suitable for diving. The overall design includes a full-length sitting ledge and three walk-in steps, as well as an Indian blue quartz interior, which was supplied by DuraQuartz. It also features blue waterline tiles and speckled blue step treads from Osborne Ceramics.
Low-maintenance Zodiac Filtration equipment, including an e3 low-energy pump, large CS250 cartridge filter and self-cleaning salt water chlorinator and acid control system has been used to ensure the homeowners can spend less time cleaning and more time swimming.
In the evening, two blue LED pool lights enhance the stunning blue interior, while an Elite Pool Covers’ Hideaway in-ground pool cover system with a clear blanket is hidden under the timber decking. The homeowners added the finishing touches to the space with timber decking, built-in seating and a storeroom, as well as a toilet.
